The Fusion Energy Café endeavours to curb its environmental footprint by trying to use local produce where possible, adopting the mantra “reduce, reuse and recycle” disposing its rubbish responsibly, using eco-friendly cleaning products and take-away coffee cups made from aqueous paper which is plastic free and just like conventional paper can be easily recycled.
We are committed to sustainability and also contribute directly towards supporting the following UN Sustainable Goals:-
Goal 4 – Quality Education. The Fusion Energy Café supports local people to upskill and gain work experience through placement and training opportunities for the hospitality and catering sector. It is situated in The Bridge Skills Hub which offers local people the opportunity to study towards a range of qualifications including Foundation Degrees and Higher Apprenticeships.
Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth. The Fusion Energy Café provides work placement opportunities and training to those who have not been in employment, education, and training. This in turn helps to provide brighter more positive futures, as those trainees can continue to further their careers in the hospitality and catering industry.
Goal 10 – Reduce Inequalities. Trainees who have learning disabilities, are disabled or unemployed are encouraged to apply for opportunities within the Café. The Café is an inclusive space and welcomes everyone.
Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities. The Fusion Energy Café embraces the community of Worksop, and it is hoped that the space will be used for a large variety of community events. Through some of its outreach events in conjunction with UKAEA, it is hoped that it will encourage younger generations to gain an interest in and develop aspirations to work in the STEM industry.
